I LOVE Spring cleaning! … Yes, I know, I’m odd.
But it’s the truth and with the weather being a bit warmer and the sun shining a bit brighter, I started going through my office earlier this year.
Long-time subscribers to The HBB Confidential know who my mentors have been and the products and programs I’ve been passionate about over the years. I’ve spent many a dollar learning from the top sales, marketing, and personal development teachers alive today.
I have many programs lining my office shelves and although it’s difficult to say good-bye to some, I must, in order to make room for the new.
We’re always growing and moving to new levels and must allow ourselves to say good-bye to those teachers, programs and resources that served us well and brought us to where we are today.
Although it’s been a tough decision, I’m willing to release some of my prized programs to help others grow and build their home-based businesses. I’ve listed them here and if any program resonates for you, email me at info [at] the hbbsource [dot] com to express your interest.

One of the best sources I’ve encountered for living your best life came from McIntosh’s Steve Jobs commencement speech to Stanford University.
If you’re at that place in your life where you’re not sure which direction to take, listen to Steve.
If you’re feeling lost in your quest for the right home-based business, listen to Steve.
If you’re been struck a blow that is holding you down, listen to Steve.
His stories will help you find your way to greatness and peace.
Love and Success,
Laurie
If you or someone you care about has been laid off or is currently unemployed, please be sure to watch this video and pass it along. James Arthur Ray has outlined some specific action items for you to apply that will be extremely helpful during your time of transition…
(No, they’re not the same old interviewing and resume tips you hear everywhere else.)
What we’re experiencing today is simply part of the ebb and flow of life. Tides come in. Tides go out. Economies thrive. Economies crash.
Despite the place we find ourselves in today with the global economy, let’s put things in perspective. Even while we are experiencing one of the worst economic times of our lives, how does this compare to the fight-to-survive days of centuries past? When everyone exercised their own brand of justice and had to hide their families to ensure they weren’t destroyed…
What if we even take a look at a few short decades ago? If you’re 40-something, you’ll certainly relate to this video, while enjoying a good chuckle along the way.
You may have started your home-based business because you LOVE working from home.
BUT … are you making sure to get out and get involved?
Even if you designed a business that is strictly online, get out and let the world know the REAL you.
Get into your local community, let them know you exist and give back.
Even if you’re not in a position to give financially, give your time. Simply giving of yourself to help others goes a long way to create positive experiences in your own life and business.
One of the best ways I found to integrate with my community and give back is through the Lions Club.
I’ve never met a group of more giving, caring people. Being in their presence is humbling and inspiring, and makes me strive to become a better person myself.
Earlier this week, our club sponsored a Christmas celebration for the C.N.I.B. (Canadian National Institute for the Blind) for the 60th consecutive year.
I had the pleasure of playing the role of photographer and interviewer and met the most remarkable people.
If you’re not active in your community, don’t let excuses like I don’t have the time, money, transportation or confidence hold you back. Once you make the decision and commit to it, a way will be made.
You need to connect with people and meet new people to grow personally. The success of your home business is not determined by how good you are at marketing and sales or by a superior product.
It’s success ultimately depends on your ability to build strong, healthy, long-term relationships and your own personal growth.
Meeting and helping others expands your awareness, introduces you to new opportunities and paths to explore.
Make it a mission to join a local service group and be a reliable and enthusiastic member. You’ll be surprised at the good things that come your way.

It’s hard to believe another year will soon be behind us. Was it everything you hoped it would be?
Yesterday as I was thinking about how many people are wishing things were different in their lives and business, I remembered something I learned long ago — The past has no relevance. It’s but a memory - a series of electrical pulses in the mind, nothing more. All that matters is what you really want for yourself now and in the future.
When I learned this, life became much easier. I no longer dwelled on the past, held resentments and sought out to even the score. None of it mattered, because it was nothing but stored electronic pulses. Pulses I could decide whether or not to entertain and replay.
What matters is what’s going on inside you this very moment. If you’re dwelling on past thoughts, you’re bringing them into the present and they’ll follow you into the future. Nothing will change for you because you’re re-living the same scenes over and over again.
If you’re paying attention to this moment and thinking about how it can serve you and move you toward a future desired state, you can arrange your thinking, actions and environment and move you toward your goal.
This is a tough mental exercise because we’re so used to rehashing old thoughts and adding in some ‘I should have’, ‘I could have’ or ‘I would have’ done this differently…
It’s true, we need memories because they serve as teachers, but to replay them keeps us stuck and unable to create that new life or business we dream of.
One of the primary teachings of Abraham Hicks that helped me move forward was that the world must have contrast. We must have things we don’t like so we can identify what it is we do want.
For example, if you don’t like the work you’re currently doing, you can seek out work that you do enjoy, then move towards it.
If you don’t like that fact that people are disrespectful to you, you can choose to be treated with respect and surround yourself with people who honour your values.
If you don’t like what you see when you look in the mirror, ie. an unhappy, burned-out person caught in the rat race, you can envision a life you’d love to be living and begin your journey towards that.
Contrast allows you to choose the option you’d rather have and only you have the ability to decide to move towards what you desire.
As I’ve been looking in the mirror for the last few months, I haven’t liked what I’ve seen — bags around my eyes, atrophied muscles, and lost weight.
The contrast to what I was looking at required a healthier diet (in my case this means eating more), physical exercise (to rebuild muscle) and giving my mind a break from the mental circus that runs 24/7.
In order to move towards what I desire, I sought out a nutritionist, removed sugar and other unhealthy foods from my diet, joined a gym (signed up for a one-year program so I have no escape route) and have been spending my spare time delving deeper into Deepak Chopra’s work (one of my favourite spiritual teachers).
It’s so easy to observe ‘what is’ and complain about it, but that will get you no where. We were given the gift of “dislike” so we can choose “like” and move towards it.
You have a choice in everything you do, say and think about. It’s just a matter of recognizing you have that power and putting it to work for your benefit.
As you head into this week, I ask you to make a list of what it is you don’t like.
Then, identify the opposite and focus on bringing it into reality.
Have an amazing week.
When you start your home business, you have certain goals and ideas in mind, but prepare yourself because once you open yourself to meeting new people, creating new experiences and stepping outside your comfort zone, things will come into your life you never would have expected.
A couple of weeks ago a friend and business colleague, Rob Provencher of Westmount Photography asked me if I’d be a subject for an Estee Lauder campaign he was putting together for Sears. Of course, who am I to say ‘no’ to something fun?
We had a great time with the photo shoot and the promo posters turned out great. Now I’m famous with the family. Well, for five weeks anyway … :0)
Rob and I became friends when I introduced him to SendOutCards. He started using it as a tool for his photography business and shares it with photographers and people he mentors across North America.
You never know where your life and business will take you, who you’ll befriend and what adventures you’ll enjoy. I’ve been enjoying the best ride of my life since walking away from the work world, and you can too!
Be bold and follow your heart. It will lead you places you never knew existed!
And if you’d like to learn more about my multi award-winning buddy and master photographer Rob, visit his site at www.westmountphotography.com
If you’re thinking of or have already turned your passion for photography into a home business, Rob is a master teacher and mentor for people in the biz. Check out his No B.S. Photo Success site at www.nobsphotosuccess.com It’s awesome!

During the last seven months, I’ve been focusing a great deal of time with offline networking. After four years behind a computer, I figured it was time to get my hinny out into the community and start meeting local business professionals.
Although I consider myself to be a fairly good networker, I’ve continued to study networking etiquette, philosphies, etc. and continue to improve my person-to-person communications. I’ve made great connections and formed amazing relationships that have grown into close personal friendships.
Yesterday, as I was reviewing my face-to-face networking strategies, I realized I have never given serious attention to the way others might refer to me.
For example, when I’m not in a room and my name comes up, I’d like to trust that words like “professional, dependable, smart, knowledgeable, giving” and “go-getter” come up as well.
Hopefully my actions are producing those types of reactions, however, I had never really considered what my physical appearance might bring up. I don’t know if I’m being viewed as too young (although I’m 42, I’m often mistaken as much younger), not to be taken seriously (I’m 5′1″ and female — a blonde one to boot), and I wear my hair long and wear very little make-up (which makes me appear younger than I am).
As I considered my target market of professionals (many of whom are male bankers, agents etc.), I began to wonder if I should look older, project a more serious image and “power-up” a little.
When my Mastermind group reconvenes in September, this will be my next matter of attention.
Working from behind a computer gives you plenty of freedom to simply be and look as comfortable as you wish, even though it might not be the ideal image your target market expects.
I’d like to know if you have considered how others might be perceiving the physical you…
What would your target market expect to see in you to take you seriously, trust you and want to get to know you?
Maybe this is an area you can explore as well. Let me know what comes up for you…
