You may have started your home-based business because you LOVE working from home.
BUT … are you making sure to get out and get involved?
Even if you designed a business that is strictly online, get out and let the world know the REAL you.
Get into your local community, let them know you exist and give back.
Even if you’re not in a position to give financially, give your time. Simply giving of yourself to help others goes a long way to create positive experiences in your own life and business.
One of the best ways I found to integrate with my community and give back is through the Lions Club.
I’ve never met a group of more giving, caring people. Being in their presence is humbling and inspiring, and makes me strive to become a better person myself.
Earlier this week, our club sponsored a Christmas celebration for the C.N.I.B. (Canadian National Institute for the Blind) for the 60th consecutive year.
I had the pleasure of playing the role of photographer and interviewer and met the most remarkable people.
If you’re not active in your community, don’t let excuses like I don’t have the time, money, transportation or confidence hold you back. Once you make the decision and commit to it, a way will be made.
You need to connect with people and meet new people to grow personally. The success of your home business is not determined by how good you are at marketing and sales or by a superior product.
It’s success ultimately depends on your ability to build strong, healthy, long-term relationships and your own personal growth.
Meeting and helping others expands your awareness, introduces you to new opportunities and paths to explore.
Make it a mission to join a local service group and be a reliable and enthusiastic member. You’ll be surprised at the good things that come your way.
